    Mark12:30 and Ephesians 5:25.

Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength lays the foundation for loving other people with a God-kind of love. It provides us with the ability to connect to other people and become one with them in these same four areas. We should work at becoming one in heart, soul, mind, and strength with our family.

    1.  One heart: When marriage partners first have a heart for God, they will find it easier to build a cohesive life together with shared dreams and goals. All true unity begins with a bonding in the heart that is then reflected in the outward trappings of life.

    2.   One soul: A couple with “one soul” are emotionally connected to each other. They are each other’s best friend, greatest cheerleader, and most faithful encourager. They share a unique bond that they experience with no one else.

    3.   One mind: Being a Christian does not mean checking your brain at the door and never using it. Couples should engage in a lively exchange of ideas on a wide range of topics, not only for the purpose of coming to agreement in important areas, but also for the purpose of expanding intellectual horizons and learning from each other.

    4.      One strength (body): Couples need to share a daily rhythm and routine that fosters physical health. In this way, they increase their effectiveness in God’s kingdom and extend their years of enjoying life together.
